Sealing

  • You want to do electrical work in the junction box
  • Preventing electricity theft
  • Why must equipment be sealed?

Why is sealing necessary?

Sealing of the meter and main fuse ensures that electricity is consumed as agreed and is accurately metered. A damaged or missing seal indicates unauthorised electricity consumption and electricity theft.

When electrical work is done on the cables connected to the meter and main fuse, the seals have to be removed during the work, if you want to:

  • replace the input cable of the building. As a rule, you have to order disconnection from the power network in order to replace the input cable;
  • replace the junction box in which the sealed equipment is located;
  • upgrade the contents of the junction box and connect a meter under the sealed cover.

The electrician who works with your electrical system will decide if the seals need to be removed and the power supply disconnected. An Elektrilevi electrician must come to remove the seals. You must not remove the seals yourself!

Which equipment must be sealed?

Electrical equipment that belongs to Elektrilevi, such as meters and programme clocks, must always be sealed.

We always register all the seals we install and take a photograph of each sealed meter. If you discover that a seal is missing or damaged, please inform us at once.

The following equipment must be sealed:

  • electricity meters,
  • meter terminals and tariff clocks,
  • metering transformers (voltage or current transformers),
  • open contact and closed contact terminals,
  • thermal fuses and circuit breakers;
  • in unmeasured circuits, rectangular cable covers and special sealable covers.

How much does sealing cost?

  • Sealing with the removal of the previous seal costs 24.40 euros.
  • Sealing after the installation of a junction box, main fuses and cables costs 14.06 euros.

Before you order sealing, make sure that you have done all the work you need to do.
