August saw record new electricity generation in Elektrilevi’s network

16.09.2022

August, electricity producers connected to Elektrilevi supplied nearly 85.7 GWh to the grid. The amount supplied to the grid increased by nearly 33 GWh (61%) compared to last August, but decreased by nearly 2 GWh compared to June.

The maximum capacity supplied to the solar power grid in August was 372.4 MW (339.4 MW last month and the maximum solar capacity last August was 234.5 MW).

“August was also noteworthy in that the maximum capacity of the electricity producers in Elektrilevi's network exceeded 400 MW for the first time. On August 11 at noon, the windy and sunny weather contributed 402 MWh to the grid per hour,” claimed Chairman of the Management Board of Elektrilevi Mihkel Härm.

“Although the share of sunny days has dropped significantly, interest in connecting to the grid has not declined as yet. The price of electricity is unbearably high, forcing people to look for smart solutions. As a result, the first weeks of September have once again been record-breaking for Elektrilevi, with nearly 550 connection applications being submitted by electricity producers per week. We are working hard daily to ensure that all those interested receive an offer from us as soon as possible,” Härm added.

The distribution of the 1,761 connection applications submitted in August is as follows:
  • electricity producers producing over 15 kW: 293 applications with a total capacity of 96.2 MW
  • micro-producers, i.e. those producing up to 15 kW: 1,468 applications with a total capacity of 18.3 MW
  • The number of connection contracts entered into in August was 516. Including:
  • electricity producers producing over 15 kW: 43 contracts with a total capacity of 22.0 MW
  • micro-producers, i.e. those producing up to 15 kW: 473 contracts with a total capacity of 5.6 MW
  • In August, network connections were completed for a total of 589 electricity producers, Including:
  • electricity producers producing over 15 kW: 51 producers with a total capacity of 7.1 MW
  • micro-producers, i.e. those producing up to 15 kW: 538 producers with a total capacity of 6.1 MW
